The "Best of . . ."

The best stuff, in no particular order

JWSC has an extensive library of website links for research, education, and just plain fun. Please see the sidebars at left, or explore some of our favorite unique collections online as featured in our list below.

Saxon Gold (Staffordshire, England)

Known around the world as the Staffordshire Hoard, the largest single find of gold and silver objects dating to the 7th Century discovered in July 2009 will be on public display at the British Museum. Many of the items have been photographed and published online via a Flickr slideshow.

Musical Instrument Museum (Phoenix, AZ)

This new museum opens April 2010, but take a look at the virtual tour to tempt future visitors. Clearly, plans include a commitment to digital cataloguing, interactivity, and web-based learning.

Julia Child's Kitchen (Washington, DC)

Are you the only person you know who hasn't seen the new movie "Julie & Julia"? Join the fun with this site from the Smithsonian and take an interactive tour of the exhibition and sample lots of related memorabilia.

The Camera Museum (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

Here you'll find a great collection of vintage cameras and photographs created from them. Site owner and non-profit museum founder, Amy Corder, has built a terrific inventory of more than 300 objects, and you'll even find a special section on pinhole photography.

Chester Beatty Library (Dublin, Ireland)

The Chester Beatty Library is a wonderful free art museum with a special emphasis on book arts and sacred texts. Their website offers beautiful high-resolution images of Asian, Islamic and Western works from the collection.

Bata Shoe Museum (Toronto, Canada)
All About Shoes lets visitors explore this extensive collection of footwear in easy to navigate chapters. Beautiful design, perfect for spring.

Hard Rock Cafe Memorabilia
This is a truly original presentation of a diverse and dimensional collection of objects from the Hard Rock Corporation Collection. A masterpiece of intuitive navigation and imaging, be sure to click on objects repeatedly to zoom in for fine details.
